Job Description
Manage company operations for Oracle Business Suite 11.5.x and non-Oracle Applications Oracle databases. Manage FLS (Front Line Support) Database Administration and run day to day operations of department. Direct the troubleshooting and tuning of enterprise databases.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a group of 6 Database Administrators from the HR perspective and interact with HR on their behalf as required. Be responsible for their training and development needs. Perform annual appraisals and provide feedback and guidance. Be responsible for the Interview and screening of the right candidates for Consulting as well as full time placements. Assist the Director of the group in providing labor and cost statistics, resource forecasting and presentations.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Interact with cross functional teams involving Development, Functional and Server Operations group. Seamlessly work in a Matrix organization utilizing persuasion and soft skills to get the work done.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
List the expectations for each job responsibility including quality and quantity standards to which the incumbent is required to perform and receive a rating for during the Performance Appraisal.
1. ORACLE RAC (10g) architecture, ORACLE Apps architecture (both Tech Stack and Database), 10g Grid, Oracle EBiz 11i.2. In-depth understanding of Oracle RDBMS up to version 10g R2, including High Availability and Failover.3. Oracle 10gAS administration and configuration for various applications like Vertex and SOA framework.4. Experience working with UNIX OS including LINUX 4.0 Red Hat AS or beyond.5. Backups / restores from tape and disk media including Oracle RMAN6. EMC storage concepts7. Oracle APPS database administration tasks (Cloning, Patching, code promotions, indexing, configuration for availability and performance) for large multi-Terabyte ERP databases.8. Linux Administration and UNIX shell scripting9. Data storage RAID configuration10. Disk SAN technology configuration and its application11. Shell scripts and EMC SAN products like Clarion and Symmetrix12. Experience working with 64bit HP-Itanium servers13. Experience working with ORACLE technology stack including SOA suite and BAM14. Experience with change management tools and processes, including source code control, versioning, defect tracking and release management. 15. Industry experience in retail or multi-level marketing16. ORACLE or equivalent vendor certification in Database management, design or operation skills.
Skills: Required•
Management of large database (500GB+) replication.• Backups/Restores from Tape and Disk media.• Identify and resolve data related problems, e.g. data load script using SQLLoader, ODI, Streams• Oracle OCFS and RAC management for 9i, 10G.• Understand PL/SQL, SQL and Shell scripting.• Database capacity planning and design.• Database and SQL statement tuning for large databases (500GB+).• Database design both logical and physical.• Strong communicator, both written and oral.
Preferred• Streams Architecture and Deployment experience• Data-warehouse and Data-mart architecture• Ability to manage Oracle on heterogenous platforms.• Data storage RAID configuration.
Experience: Required• 8 years demonstrated experience with a database 24x7 support experience with in-depth experience supporting of large enterprise-wide high availability databases and data warehouses.• 5 years of experience working with ORACLE APPS (including some exposure to multi-tier RAC environments)• 5 years of experience supporting large enterprise-wide databases (500GB minimum)• 5 years hands on experience with Oracle 10g RAC and 10g Grid Architecture• 4 years experience in leading / managing and mentoring DBA teams.
Preferred• Experience working with 11i databases• Experience working in a heterogeneous database environment.• 2 years of experience with SQL Server Databases.• Experience with change management tools and processes, including source code control, versioning, defect tracking and release management.• Industry experience in retail or multi-level marketing.
Education: Required•
4 year degree in a technical field (Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics).
Preferred• OCP (Oracle Certified Practitioner) vendor certification in Database management, design or operational skills.
